We are an Australian Public Company Limited by Guarantee. We are a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). We are working towards securing our DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status.
We are an emerging organisation, however, we have already established a credible network at the state and national levels. Our Ambassador Tasneem Chopra, OAM, is a leading cross-cultural consultant who addresses issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion across organisational leadership, including intersectionality within government, corporate, arts, and community sectors.
Our Board is made up of women from diverse backgrounds, skills, talents, and lived experiences. Collectively, we bring a wealth of expertise and decades of experience in NFP leadership, advocacy, governance, community development, legal and human rights, policy and research, finance and accounting, project management, business development and sales, event management, communications and marketing.
In late 2020, in partnership with Murdoch University we developed and scoped a research project with the aim to provide contemporary data to better understand how women of colour experience the workplace. We want to offer a unique insight into some of the systemic obstacles women of colour face, and the prerequisites to improve their experiences in the workplace. Against a backdrop of well-known gender biases affecting women in Australia, our survey demonstrates that women of colour need opportunities to navigate the distinctive challenges at the intersection of gender and race.
We have now completed the survey (responded by 543 women of colour, with 7% identifying as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander). It painted a stark reality for women of colour in Australian workplaces, finding more than 60% have experienced some form of discrimination, including sexism, tokenism, and racism.

With your support, we can create initiatives by and for women of colour that account for the compounding barriers to unlocking and advancing their opportunities both within professional and personal levels. We will drive the agenda for women of colour through lobbying for an intersectional approach to diversity & inclusion policies, practices, programs, and beliefs.
